Instead of fire, the process uses a combination of warm water (roughly 200∘F–300∘F), a small amount of alkali (often sodium or potassium hydroxide), and gentle water flow to accelerate
Aquamation, also known as alkaline hydrolysis or water cremation, is an eco-friendly and gentle alternative to traditional flame-based cremation for pets. Instead of fire, the process uses a combination of warm water (roughly 200∘F–300∘F), a small amount of alkali (often sodium or potassium hydroxide), and gentle water flow to accelerate the natural decomposition of organic tissues.
This method mimics the natural process of decomposition that occurs in a burial but speeds it up from years to approximately 6 to 24 hours depending on the pet's size.
